§ 10-81. Inoculation, registration and tag.

  • The owner, keeper, holder or harborer of any dog over the age of three months shall, on or before April 1 of each year, cause the dog to be immunized or vaccinated against rabies by a duly licensed veterinarian. The veterinarian shall, at the time of such immunization, furnish such owner, keeper, holder or harborer of such dog with a certificate, signed by the veterinarian, showing the date of immunization; the name and description of the dog; and the name and address of the owner, keeper, holder or harborer of the dog. The veterinarian shall furnish the owner, keeper, holder or harborer with a metal tag, which shall be numbered and shall indicate the name of the issuing body and the calendar year during which the inoculation has been made. The metal tag shall, at all times, be attached to the dog's collar and shall be and remain on the dog. The dog shall be registered with the clerk or his duly authorized agent, in a book to be kept by him for that purpose, which registration shall show the name and description of the dog and the name and address of such owner, keeper, holder or harborer of the dog.
