§ 1-11. General penalty.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to violate or fail to comply with any provision of this Code or commit any act declared to be unlawful or a misdemeanor. Where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any provision of this Code shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 60 days or by both such fine and imprisonment, within the discretion of the court. However, where the authority of the town is prescribed by statute, the punishment shall be within the statutory limits. Each day any violation of any provision of this Code continues constitutes a separate offense.
