§ 74-108. Created; boundaries.

  • In accordance with R.S. 33:3911 to 33:3915, inclusive, and other constitutional and statutory authority, a sewerage district is created comprising and embracing all of that territory within the following described boundaries:

    Beginning at a point "AA" designated on a plan of the town, made by Durald F. Woods, civil engineer, dated June 25, 1956, revised January 5, 1957 (point "AA" is a point on the upper boundary of the Jean Ferrero Subdivision 85 feet north of the center of the Mississippi River levee); thence across the highway and along the upper or west boundary of Jean Ferrero Subdivision north 27 degrees 48 minutes west, a distance of 1261.4 feet, to a point "B" on the south boundary line of Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad right-of-way, which point is 50.1 feet from the center of Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad main line track; thence along the south boundary of the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad right-of-way, south 58 degrees 02 minutes west, a distance of 752.5 feet to a point "C" on the east boundary of David Avenue which is 50 feet from the center of the main line track of the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad; thence across the railroad right-of-way and along east boundary of David Avenue north 27 degrees 48 minutes west, a distance of 1544.5 feet to a point "D" at the northwest corner of lot 26 of the David Plantation Subdivision by Durald F. Woods, February 22, 1939; thence along the north boundary of lots north 62 degrees 12 minutes east, a distance of 750 feet to a point "E" at the northeast corner of lot 16 of the David Plantation Subdivision by Durald F. Woods, February 24, 1929; thence along the west boundary of the Ferrero Subdivision north 27 degrees 48 minutes west, a distance of 10,980.34 feet to a point "F" at the west boundary of the Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad right-of-way, north 41 degrees 50 minutes east, a distance of 918.3 feet, to a point "G" on lower or east bank of the canal; thence along lower bank of the canal south 28 degrees 10 minutes east, a distance of 500 feet to a point "H" on lower bank of the canal; thence north 41 degrees 50 minutes east a distance of 110 feet to a point "I"; thence south 48 degrees 10 minutes east, a distance of 772.8 feet to a point "J," which point is 50 feet north 01 degree 00 minutes east of the centerline of the Louisiana Power & Light Company right-of-way; thence along the north boundary of the Louisiana Power & Light Company right-of-way south 88 degrees 46 minutes east a distance of 1278.3 feet to a point "K"; thence across the Airline Highway and across the Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad right-of-way south 28 degrees 00 minutes east, a distance of 1491.2 feet, to a point "L" on the south boundary of the Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad right-of-way; thence along the south side of railroad north 88 degrees 51 minutes west, a distance of 2570.4 feet to a point "M," which point is on the east boundary of lots east of Airline Highway connection (North Airline Avenue); thence along the east boundary of the Jean Ferrero Subdivision south 27 degrees 48 minutes east, a distance of 6,096.4 feet to an iron pipe at the southeast corner of lot 49 of square eight of the Ferrero Subdivision and on the north boundary of East Sixth Street; thence along the north boundary of East Sixth Street north 62 degrees 12 minutes east, a distance of 901.4 feet to a point on the east boundary of the Ewell Millet property and on the west boundary of the Colonial Sugars Company property; thence along the east boundary of the Ewell Millet property south 27 degrees 45 minutes, a distance of 3000 feet to a point "P" on the upper line of the Colonial Sugars Company property; thence along the north boundary of East Second Street north 62 degrees 47 minutes east, a distance of 794 feet to a point "Q" which is the east boundary line of the Golden Grove Plantation Road and is 70 feet more or less north of the northeast corner of the Catholic Church lot; thence along the east boundary of the Golden Grove Plantation Road south 27 degrees 13 minutes east, a distance of 952.1 feet to a point "R" which is on the south boundary of the blacktopped highway, in curve to Colonial Sugars Company refinery; thence along the south boundary of the highway right-of-way south 58 degrees 11 minutes west, a distance of 971.9 feet, to a point "S," which point is on the east boundary of the sidewalk right-of-way; thence along the east boundary of the sidewalk right-of-way south 27 degrees 49 minutes east, a distance of 482.2 feet to a point "T" on the north boundary of the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad right-of-way, which point is 50 feet from the center of the main line track; thence along the north boundary of the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad right-of-way north 58 degrees 02 minutes east, a distance of 981.5 feet to a point "U," which point is 50 feet north of the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad right-of-way and along the upper line of the property of the Colonial Sugars Company; thence along the upper line of the property of the Colonial Sugars Company south 31 degrees 58 minutes east, a distance of 1,171.6 feet to a point "VV" being a point at the north toe of the Mississippi River levee 85 feet south of the center of the levee; thence along the said toe of the levee westerly a distance of 2,097.8 feet to point "AA," the point of beginning, all situated in Gramercy, St. James Parish, Louisiana, township 11 south, range 5 east, Southeastern District of Louisiana.

Editor's note

The creation of this sewerage district was ratified and confirmed by Ord. No. 41, dated August 8, 1959, no objection having been filed and no judicial action contesting such having been brought. Such ordinance also adopted an official seal for the district, designated a meeting day for the governing authority, designated a depository and designated an official journal.
